Hi friends, hope you are all doing fine. My name is Minakshi Pant I live in noida and I have just started working on blog just to let everyone knows that I have my own business of lakhnavi chikan clothing collections like kurtis, anarkali kurtis, linings, leggings, Sarees, plazos, kids wear, gents clothing like kurta pyjamas.

What is Chikankari work?
Chikankari is the embroidery work done with the white cotton thread on fine white cotton material. It's also called shadow work. Where shadow work uses mostly herringbone stitch interspersed with some other stitches. Chikan work is a combination of many different embroidery stitches. In chikan work some of the designs are worked from the back of the fabric and others from the front.
Where is this technique used?
Delicately worked chikankari designs were embroidered on the finest of cotton mulmul fabrics during the mughal period and it had value and worth for its aesthetics. This embroidery technique is popularly used to adorn beautiful kurtis and sarees and even home decor items.
Journey of chikan in Lucknow:-
1. By 1904, it was one of the most important industries of lucknow.
2. One, established in 1890 and still active today offers in 1901 over one thousand different designs of chikan.
What are the tools used in Chikankari:-
1. Sui, needle is the important tool which plays a major role in Chikankari work.
2. A circular shaped frame is used to hold the cloth as it obtains tautness. These frames are made with cloth as well as wood as per the need.
3. Wooden blocks are used to print the design on plain cloth.
4. A rectangular wooden table used as support during printing process.
5. Containers are used while washing the cloth after completion of stitching work.
